How random number generators work

A random number generator converts an unpredictable starting value into a result inside a requested range. Secure software gets that starting entropy from the operating system, then uses a carefully designed algorithm to produce values that are impractical to predict.

Fair selection

For an integer generator, fairness means that every allowed number has the same probability. A correct implementation also avoids modulo bias and handles unique draws without quietly favouring particular values. LuckyMe uses PHP’s secure random_int function for number selection.

Random generators are useful for games, samples, tests, classroom activities, and neutral decisions. They cannot predict future events; they simply make a fair selection from the choices supplied.
